This is one of a number of signposted off-road routes in the Department of Cundinamarca that have been developed in recent years. This one is about 50% off-road, and is a great way to get acclimatised to Colombia’s altitude and gradients. It takes you on a loop through the mountains to the east of Bogotá and there are lots of places to stop for a breather and take in the views. Some of the gradients are quite steep, but none of them are too long, and the route ends with a lovely 11km paved descent into Bogotá with impressive views of the city and the two mountaintop churches of Guadalupe and Monserrate.
