About
I’m a South African/British cyclist with a passion for exploring, and sharing experiences that encourage people to ride more, especially off the beaten track. I came to live in Bogotá in 1997, and have been exploring Colombia ever since.
My journey has included being a cycling ambassador for ProColombia, hosting a 33-episode podcast series in English and Spanish called Stories from the Heart of Colombia, where I travelled to every Colombian department to meet interesting local characters as we walked some of the local tourist attractions, and publishing an adventure cycling article in Revista Deriva.
My personal passion is ultra-cycling, with occasional long-distance racing. In 2023, I finished fifth at Bikingman Brazil (1,000km, +18,000m), and in 2024 I completed 3,300 km (+34,000m) of the Transcontinental Race, before scratching after a nasty crash. I’m currently training for the Silk Road Mountain Race 2026 in Kyrgyzstan.
When I’m not cycling I work as a copywriter, translator and podcaster.
I write this site in English so it can reach as wide as possible an audience of adventure cyclists looking for tested, annotated routes in Colombia, that can be hard to find elsewhere. Feel free to download, use, share and adapt any of the content you find here.
If you need help planning a trip to Colombia, I offer consultation and planning services for individuals and groups. Whether you need a complete bespoke route & itinerary, with logistics & language support, or some initial expert guidance before heading out autonomously, I can help you create the perfect plan.
